Adolescence is an especially vulnerable time of social, emotional and physical changes. Teens often encounter challenges with body image, peer relationships, sexuality, school, and experimenting with alcohol and drugs. Learning difficulties, discrimination, exposure to violence, poverty, and chronic medical conditions can put teens at higher risk for mental health conditions.
Therapy can be a supportive tool to help:

- Find language for one’s experience
- Increase compassion & self-understanding
Your teen dragging their feet and not being thrilled about the idea of therapy is common! I work with folks where they are at and know building trust takes time. I have found humor, collaboration, and transparency about all of our roles to be helpful in gaining and maintaining trust.
